Some people are less interested in where I stand with a camera and more interested in how decisions are made after the shutter.

In addition to landscape and live music work, I’m currently expanding a series of collaborative, mood-driven projects.

Matt Hickam is an award-winning landscape photographer with a background in portrait and live music photography. His photographic journey began in 2008 working with film before transitioning into digital, alongside formal certification in visual imagery. A foundation rooted in traditional photographic principles continues to inform his approach, allowing for a deeper understanding of light, timing, visual intent And emotion.

"I’m drawn to remote, less-traveled places. Working off grid and spending time in environments most people never experience firsthand is a surreal experience. Sharing that perspective through photography allows me to translate those moments into something lasting. Being able to merge photography with interests like nature, camping, music, and off-roading has shaped both my work and the way I approach the world."
